University of Oxford takes home 'Apprenticeship Employer of the Year' Award

Apprenticeship Employer of the Year 2021

Our apprenticeships team is incredibly pleased to be able to take home the 'Apprenticeship Employer (250+ employees) award' at the Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards this year.

Helen Johnson, Apprenticeship Manager commented on the win:

It was an absolute honour to accept the award for Apprentice Employer of the Year Award (250)+ at OxLEPs Oxfordshire Apprenticeship Awards last week.

This is the first time we have entered the awards and to be shortlisted as a finalist was on its own a great achievement. The timing of winning this award could not be better as we discuss internally our new apprenticeship strategy.

We have been working hard to support the local community through transferring our apprenticeship levy and will continue to commit to this going forward.

On behalf of the Apprenticeship team, I would like to thank our apprentices and apprentice line managers, mentors and training providers for their hard work and engagement, winning this award is a true reflection of all of our commitment to the programme

We look forward to continuing to grow our apprenticeship programme both for new entrant and existing staff.

Apprentice Awards

Emilia Reyes Pabon

Our fantastic lab scientist apprentice Emilia, won the 'Advanced Apprentice of the Year' Award. She then went on to jointly receive the 'Overall Apprentice of the Year' Award.

I can say that it was an amazing opportunity to take part of the OxLEP awards this year and it feels great that my work as an apprentice has been recognised. I still can't believe that I was selected for the Advanced Apprentice award AND the Overall Apprentice of the Year award!

I'm really grateful to OxLEP for organising the event and to Nielsen IQ for taking the time to interview me and selecting me as their winner. I would also like to thank the University and the CBF for helping me and nominating me for the awards. I'm looking forward to progressing into my apprenticeship and to have more opportunities to promote all the benefits that apprenticeships have.

We are also very proud of our business administration apprentice in the finance division, who was shortlisted in the 'Shining Star' Apprentice award this year.

It felt amazing to have been shortlisted and to have been recognised for my work. I recognise how great of an achievement it was to be a finalist and how proud it has made me feel.
