Associate Professors at the University of Oxford have a joint appointment, i.e. both a University contract and a formal association with one of Oxford's colleges.
The teaching time is split between duties for the University and the College as follows:
- University - undergraduate lectures, teaching masters and doctoral students, etc.
- College - tutorial (very small group) teaching and associated pastoral and administrative duties
The balance of duties between the University faculty/department and the College determines which is considered the ‘major’ employer. All Associate Professors, regardless of the nature of the college association, have the same Terms and Conditions in the University contract.
This page lists Associate Professorship positions where the College is the major employer.
